The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center Inspires Colorful Community Connections Through Art Supplies Donations

HOUSTON, Texas (June 12, 2023) — The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center (the Institute) recently hosted the “Colorful Community Connections” art supplies donation event on Friday, June 2. This art donation event demonstrates the Institute’s
dedication to the Houston community and its commitment to fostering creativity and connection through art and spirituality.

“Colorful Community Connections” supported several local organizations that were chosen to receive donations of art supplies and children’s crafts. Benefitting organizations include Camp Shield, Cinco Ranch High School, Clements High School, Crate Houston, DePelchin Children’s Center, FYP Houston, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, HTX Art Bus, and YES Prep Northline Secondary.

The art supplies donated by the Institute equipped local art teachers and community organizations with essential materials to spur imagination and personal development with children and youth. Art supplies included sidewalk chalk, pastel chalk, paint brushes, washable
markers, children’s craft kits including pinwheel making kits, stained glass painting sets, flower pot painting sets, and other art materials. The Institute recognizes the importance of nurturing creativity and spirituality, particularly for children, and hopes to inspire joy and connection through this initiative.

“At the Institute, we wholeheartedly embrace the transformative power of creativity and its capacity to nurture both individual growth and meaningful relationships. ‘Colorful Community Connections’ presented us with an extraordinary opportunity to provide art supplies to local
non-profit organizations and school art programs, enabling them to reach out to our community’s most at-risk children and contribute to their well-being and enrichment,” commented Stuart Nelson, acting president, and executive vice president at the Institute for Spirituality and Health.
