Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Precision Medicine Grand Rounds
The inaugural Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Precision Medicine Grand Rounds will feature guest lecturer Dr. Anantha Shekhar, distinguished professor at Indiana University School of Medicine and expert in the field of precision medicine.
His talk, titled “Integrating Precision Medicine into Clinical Practice: Rewards and Challenges,” will be held Nov. 8 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Denton A. Cooley Auditorium at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, 6770 Bertner Ave.
Shekhar currently leads Indiana’s Precision Health Initiative, a $120 million project to develop precision medicine research and clinical programs across Indiana University and its statewide IU health system.
He also is an executive associate dean for research, the August M. Watanabe Professor of medical research, professor of psychiatry and professor of neurobiology and pharmacology. He is the founding director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, a statewide institute within the Indiana University School of Medicine, supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health.
Shakhar has served in many leadership roles in clinical services management and research programs in psychiatry and has authored more than 200 peer reviewed publications.
His talk is open to all healthcare professionals who are interested in the latest information on the practice and implementation of precision medicine initiatives to improve the delivery of individualized care.
This grand rounds is the first of a new series of lectures on this topic, sponsored by Baylor’s Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and by the Office of the President.
