TMC Campus Update: Tropical Storm Harvey - Wednesday, August 30 at 6:46 p.m.

Effective tomorrow, August 31, TMC will resume shuttle operations for the Red, White, Blue and Gold Shuttle service. Remote parking lots will be open and accessible for contract parkers.

During Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey, TMC opened gates in Garages 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 15 (McGovern Commons). As of 2 a.m. on August 31, entry gates to these garages will close, and exit gates will remain open until 10 a.m. As member institutions transition to normal operations, contract parkers need to return to assigned parking locations to ensure parking availability for patients and visitors who visit the main campus. For any assistance after the exit gates have been lowered, the employee can press the intercom at the exit device for assistance from our Call Center.

TMC Campus Update: Tropical Storm Harvey - Tuesday, August 29 at 4:26 p.m.

Texas Medical Center continues to operate to prioritize emergency cases and in-patient care.  The majority of non-emergent and elective procedures have been rescheduled to later dates.  We request that patients contact their care providers directly as schedules have changed as a result of the storm.

This morning, TMC deactivated flood gates to allow full access to TMC garages for utilization by patients, their families and health care professionals. Lower water levels have allowed roadways within the medical center and most of the roads immediately surrounding the medical center to remain open and passable.

Third Coast Restaurant and the John P. McGovern Commons Food Court are open with limited service. Third Coast is open from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 – Friday, September 1, and the food court is open, with limited restaurant openings, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily. The restaurant and food court will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 5. The John P. McGovern Commons Campus is located at 6550 Bertner Ave., Houston, TX 77030.

Texas Medical Center and its member institutions remain in close coordination with the City of Houston and the Harris County Office of Emergency Management, and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

TMC Campus Update: Tropical Storm Harvey - Monday, August 28 at 2:24 p.m.

All emergency clinical care facilities remain open and operable in the medical center, with the exception of Ben Taub. Non-elective and non-emergency procedures remain deferred at most institutions, however please contact the institutions directly to confirm previously-scheduled appointments and receive additional information. Ben Taub is currently caring for existing patients, but is no longer accepting new patients and is diverting them to other medical center institutions. In addition, LifeFlight at Memorial Hermann and helipads for other member institutions are open and operable when wind levels allow.

As of this time, access immediately around the medical center is possible through major access points (Holcombe, Fannin, Main, Almeda, Braeswood and OST) as well as on private TMC roads. Roadway status is subject to change based on expected rainfall.  TMC encourages all patients, family members and healthcare professionals to use caution and avoid high water on roadways.

All ground and above-level TMC garages are open and accessible, with the exception of Garage 7.
