25th Annual Nursing Conference – Compassion Fatigue: The Hard Work of Caring
The Institute for Spirituality and Health is hosting its 25th Annual Nursing Conference on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church at 5501 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004. The conference begins at 7:30 with registration and light breakfast with the first speaker at 8:10 a.m. The speakers for this conference are: Dr. Gwen Sherwood, Caring and Compassion: Finding Joy in Quality Safe Reflective Practices; Dr. Tim VanDuivendyk, Nursing: Compassion Fatigue and Resilience and Debi Boyle Managing Compassion Fatigue in the Clinical Setting: Intervention Options. There will be a panel discussion on Witnesses & Wisdom: Lived Experience of Compassion Fatigue and Its Impact on Health Care Providers and Patients. At 2:30 p.m. the Institute will announce its Spirituality Award in memory of Emma Josephine Loeffelholz McMorris, RN, who served during World War II as an ensign in the Navy Nurses Corps in the naval hospital in San Diego, California.
