Volunteers needed for clinical trial for COVID-19 vaccine against emerging variants

HOUSTON – (May 31, 2022) – Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine are recruiting adult volunteers for a COVID-19 vaccine study sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health, that will test different vaccine regimens that may offer a broader range of protection against new variants as they emerge. Baylor College of Medicine has received funding support as an agreement under NIH contract number 75N91019D00024 to Leidos Biomedical Research in Frederick, Md.

The study, known as the COVID-19 Variant Immunologic Landscape (COVAIL) trial, will determine whether different vaccine regimens can broaden the immune response in adults who already have received a primary vaccination series and a first booster shot. Participants would have to attend six to 10 clinic visits and compensation would be provided.
