Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Unveil New Collaboration to Develop Next Generation Patient Care Technologies
HOUSTON – Texas Medical Center (TMC)—the world’s largest medical complex—and Memorial Hermann Health System (MHHS) are introducing a new collaboration model designed to transform frontline insights into scalable health solutions.
Through access to the TMC Center for Device Innovation (CDI), select Memorial Hermann employees and affiliated physicians interested in product innovation will now have a direct path to translate ideas into working prototypes for solutions that can transform patient care.
Participants will be supported by mentors from Memorial Hermann, TMC Innovation and industry experts with specialties in medicine, regulatory strategy, reimbursement planning and investor readiness. Additionally, they will have access to comprehensive support, including product innovation and translation strategy, dedicated engineering and machinist resources, and personal workbench space at the CDI.
“The prototyping facilities and opportunities at TMC are world-class and globally recognized, attracting innovators from around the world to advance their technologies,” said Tom Luby, chief innovation officer at TMC Innovation Factory. “We are excited to expand our partnership with Memorial Hermann and open the doors of our Center for Device Innovation to their employees and physicians—already among the best in medical care. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next, utilizing our labs and gaining insights from top leaders across our campus.”
Launched in 2022, the Innovation Hub was designed to help solve some of health care’s most challenging problems, Memorial Hermann deploys an Innovation Hub using a pilot and scale approach to learn quickly and invest where impact is proven. This partnership will extend the Hub’s impact, especially in supporting researchers, clinicians and staff in developing patentable, commercially viable products.
“Memorial Hermann is excited to launch this new partnership with the TMC CDI. As we continue to grow culture of innovation, we look forward to supporting our employees, affiliated physicians and providers in new ways,” said Ini Ekiko Thomas, vice president of information technology at Memorial Hermann.
The inaugural group of entrepreneurs will prepare to pitch their innovations in early 2026.
