Houston Hospice Promotes ‘Not All #CareHeroes Wear Capes’ During National Hospice and Palliative Care Month
Welcomes Community with Open House November 20

HOUSTON (Nov. 19, 2024) – Houston Hospice invites the community to, “Not All #CareHeroes Wear Capes,” an open house Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Texas Medical Center inpatient unit located at 1905 Holcombe Blvd.

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and the theme is #CareHeroes. The month is dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits of interdisciplinary and supportive hospice care, dispelling misconceptions and educating patients who have a terminal diagnosis (and their families) when it comes to their end-of-life journey. It also presents an opportunity to
celebrate the hospice care professionals, volunteers and caregivers at home who provide comfort, and dignity to patients during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Opportunities at the open house:
• Learn how Houston Hospice supports patients and families with compassionate end-of life care
• Meet with members of the interdisciplinary team
• Take a tour of the Houston Hospice inpatient unit

“Our care teams have supported and cared for generations of families in Southeast Texas for more than 40 years and we remain committed to putting people over profits every single day,” said Al Gatmaitan, DSc, chair of Houston Hospice board of directors. “As a community-based, nonprofit hospice, our goal is to provide holistic care for patients and families and educate our
community through a variety of outreach activities.”
