To help your visit go smoothly, here’s the latest information on road closures, parking updates, and campus alerts.
Transportation
Moursund St. and Bertner Ave. Lane Closures | MAY 16 – AUG 31
Expect traffic delays along Moursund St. and Bertner Ave. due to multiple lane closures for a City of Houston sanitary sewer rehabilitation project. All garages, sidewalks, and bus stops will remain open during construction.
Metro Rail Service Disruption | JUL 1 – 26
Metro Rail service is suspended between Smith Lands Transit Center and Fannin South due to a major service malfunction. Bus bridge shuttles are available between stations while repairs are underway. Service is expected to remain disrupted through at least July 26, though that date is subject to change. For questions, contact Metro Rail at 713-843-5499.
Old Spanish Trail Road Closure | JUL 17 – 19
Old Spanish Trail will be fully closed between Bertner Ave. and the eastern campus entrance from Friday, 9:00 AM through Sunday, 5:00 PM for Helix Park pedestrian bridge construction. Please follow the posted detour routes.
Cambridge St. Lane Closures | AUG 10 – SEP 18
Expect intermittent lane closures along Cambridge St. between Main St. and Hermann Park Dr. due to METRO street resurfacing work. All driveways and access points will remain open during construction, including the Memorial Hermann emergency department drop-off, Garage 4 (1406 Cambridge St.), Ben Taub Garage, Ben Taub Loop, and Lamar Fleming Ave.
MD Anderson Blvd. Road Closure | AUG 10 – SEP 6
MD Anderson Blvd. will be closed to all through traffic between Moursund St. and Garage 10, 6700 MD Anderson Blvd., for ongoing skybridge construction. During the closure, access Garages 5, 1001 Holcombe Blvd., and 10 from the south via Holcombe Blvd. or from the east via Lamar Fleming Ave. Garage 6, 1329 Moursund St., will be accessible only from Moursund St.
Parking
GARAGE 15 – B1 and B2 Closure | JUL 18 – 19
Level B1 and B2 entrances and exits will be temporarily closed at Garage 15, 6550 Bertner Ave., to repair plaster. To minimize impact on garage operations, the work will occur on the weekend.
GARAGE 4 | JUL 3 – AUG 4
Each level of Garage 4, 1406 Cambridge St., will undergo weekend washing. Minimal parking disruptions are expected.

TMC Building Alerts
The Commons | 6550 Bertner Ave. | JAN – DEC 2026
The Commons will remain open during the building renovation with food service provided by Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, and rotating lunch vendors through Fooda.
