Britni McAshan is a staff writer for the Texas Medical Center news team, writing stories for Pulse magazine and for the TMC news website. In addition to her writing, Britni works on the social media accounts for the medical center, sharing snapshots and happenings around campus with followers.
Britni is passionate about sharing the stories of the medical center with TMC’s readers, whether it is diving into the close relationship between art and medicine, telling patient stories or keeping TMC employees, patients and visitors up to date on the latest research being done on campus.
In her monthly column, Curated: The Intersection of Arts and Medicine, Britni explores the relationship between art and medicine by featuring patient artwork, music, theater and compelling exhibits from the Houston and Galveston area that highlight the symbiotic nature of the two. In 2017 and 2018, she won first place Lone Star Awards for the column.
Before her days as a roving reporter on campus, Britni studied journalism and public relations at the University of Mississippi. Outside of work, Britni enjoys volunteering at Medical Bridges, Life Gift and Nora’s Home as well as scoping out the Houston food scene.
