Medication-related morbidity and mortality is a significant health concern due to unsafe medication use practices, which includes the prescribing of inappropriate medications to patients’ misuse of prescribed medications.

As reducing medication errors and improving medication safety are national priorities, the Houston Medication Safety Symposium will discuss the latest advances in medication safety in the elderly and opioid prescribing and misuse to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care.
