Summary: Salt sensitivity of blood pressure is an independent predictor of death due to cardiovascular events and disproportionately affects Blacks. Diagnosis of salt-sensitivity is not feasible in the clinic, making it difficult to investigate therapeutic strategies. The goal of this presentation is to discuss mechanisms of immune cell activation in salt-sensitivity, and how the gut microbiome may play a role.
