Beyond Incarceration: Building a Just and Equitable Health System

Doctors for Change is hosting “Beyond Incarceration: Building a Just and Equitable Mental Health System”

As community mental health services remain under-funded and difficult to access, many patients eventually receive care within prisons and jails. The Harris County Jail alone provides more psychiatric care than any other institution in the State of Texas. Join us for a discussion about the unacceptable realities of care for this population, and what Doctors for Change can do to advocate for a better system.

Current Speakers:

Sylvia Muzquiz-Drummond, MD
Medical Director for Mental Health Services at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD

Joseph V Penn MD, CCHP FAPA
Director, Mental Health Services, UTMB Correctional Managed Care
