Gordon will be one of only three female In-Chiefs at U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll hospitals

HOUSTON – (April 6, 2021) – Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine are proud to announce Dr. Catherine M. Gordon as the new Pediatrician-in-Chief at Texas Children’s and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor. Gordon will join both institutions on Oct. 1.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Gordon, a gifted physician/scientist and renowned leader, to Texas Children’s,” said Mark A. Wallace, President and CEO of Texas Children’s. “Her extensive experience and continued passion for treating patients will be a tremendous asset to our team, and enhance the health and well-being of those who entrust us with their care.”

Gordon will be one of only three female In-Chiefs at U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll hospitals. Texas Children’s is consistently recognized as a leader in pediatric care, ranking fourth in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-21 Best Children’s Hospitals survey.

“I have been inspired by the work of the talented teams at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, and I am honored to serve as their next Pediatrician-in-Chief and Chair of Pediatrics,” said Gordon. “I look forward to exciting opportunities ahead as we launch new clinical and research programs that advance care for children and adolescents, as well as initiatives that expand diversity and allow for continued strong community engagement.”

As Pediatrician-in-Chief and Chair of Pediatrics, Gordon will lead one of the nation’s most clinically and academically active teams in the nation.

“Dr. Gordon’s vision of an academic medical center is perfectly aligned with Baylor’s mission in education, research, patient care and community service,” said Dr. Paul Klotman, President, CEO and executive dean of Baylor College of Medicine. “I’m looking forward to her leadership in this important role at the College.”

Gordon currently serves as Chief of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina and completed her pediatric residency and fellowships at Boston Children’s. She is board-certified in Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric Endocrinology.
