HOUSTON, TX – Houston Hospice, the oldest, largest, independent, nonprofit hospice in Greater Houston, is pleased to announce its 20th Annual Butterfly Luncheon will be held Monday, April 19, 2021. Proceeds from the hybrid event will fund Houston Hospice and its Butterfly Program for pediatric hospice patients and their families.

“Since 1996, the Houston Hospice Butterfly Program has been recognized as a leader in the advancement of pediatric hospice care,” said Rana McClelland, President & CEO, Houston Hospice. “Our specialized team, led by Baylor College of Medicine Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics Nancy Glass, MD, MBA, advocates for each of our young patients and their unique medical, pharmaceutical, psycho-social, and spiritual needs. At Houston Hospice, it is our privilege to honor pediatric hospice patients and their families as they seek compassionate care.”

It is fitting that this year’s featured speaker is New York Times Best Selling Author Katherine Center. The native Houstonian has penned eight bittersweet novels about love, loss, and resilience, including her 2013 tale, The Lost Husband: A Novel, which was made into a popular Netflix film. In the compassionate novel, What You Wish For, Katherine encourages readers to find joy on purpose.

Our 2020-planned Chairmen Terrell and Abbott Sprague have graciously offered to return in support of our 2021 Butterfly Luncheon. “Terrell and Abbott Sprague are a wonderful choice as Chairmen of the 20th Annual Butterfly Luncheon,” said Aida Matic, Vice President of Development and Community Engagement, Houston Hospice. “As we continue into this new year, we look to committed, community leaders, such as Terrell and Abbott Sprague, for courage, commitment, and leadership.”
The Butterfly Luncheon is Monday, April 19, 2021, with a live-streaming option, as well as an in-person option at The Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks, Lane, Houston, Texas.
