DeepTexas Medical AI Symposium scheduled for April 23-24
Featuring some of the best minds in technology and medicine from throughout Texas and across the nation, the 2020 DeepTexas Medical AI Symposium will provide a forum for clinicians, researchers, executives, health systems, corporations, investors, payers, policymakers, patients, and other stakeholders to consider the possibilities and plan for the future of medical artificial intelligence (AI).
The symposium sponsored by The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Biomedical Informatics, will be held April 23-24 at the Westin Houston Medical Center, 1709 Dryden Road in Houston.
Symposium chair is Jiajie Zhang, PhD, dean of UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics. Honorary chair is UTHealth President Giuseppe Colasurdo, MD, Alkek-Williams Distinguished Chair.
“The goal of the symposium is to educate attendees on the current state of the AI revolution and the ripple effects it is creating in medicine and health care. Among other issues, we’ll be exploring the myriad applications of AI in medicine and how they can aid us in advancing clinical care,” said Zhang, who is The Glassell Family Foundation Distinguished Chair in Informatics Excellence.
Keynote speakers for the symposium will include Peter Szolovits, PhD, professor of computer science and engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a member of the National Academy of Medicine; John M. Zerwas, MD, executive vice chancellor for health affairs, The University of Texas System; Tina Moen, PharmD, senior deputy chief health officer and chief pharmacy officer, IBM Watson Health; and Lisa McFerrin, PhD, bioinformatician, Amazon Web Services.
