The Memorial Hermann Health System Board is pleased to announce the appointment of W.H. “Bill” Easter III as its next Chair-Elect.

Easter will begin his three-year term as Chair of the Memorial Hermann Health System Board, effective Jan. 1, 2020. He will succeed current Board Chair Deborah Cannon who will continue to serve as Chair through Dec. 31, 2019, and will remain on the System Board.

“Bill’s tenure on our Board over the last decade has been instrumental during a pivotal period for our organization and the overall healthcare industry,” Cannon said. “His deep knowledge of Memorial Hermann, as well as his expertise in growing organizations and leading through change, makes him the ideal choice to lead our Board over the next three years.”

Easter’s relationship with Memorial Hermann dates back to 2010 when he first joined the Board as one of its members. During his nearly 10-year tenure with the organization, Easter has chaired both the Finance and Compensation Committees – two significant committees that support the advancement of Memorial Hermann.

“In partnership with our community and with the dedicated work of our leadership, Memorial Hermann continues to make significant inroads in moving our mission-driven agenda forward, with a relentless focus on improving the health of our community and delivering compassionate, high quality and affordable care for all,” Easter said. “As the industry continues to adjust for the future, I am excited about Memorial Hermann’s role in leading transformation right here in Houston, just as we have done for the last 110 years.”

Easter is the retired Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of DCP Midstream LLC, one of the nation’s largest natural gas gatherers and processors and marketers of natural gas and natural gas liquids. He was previously employed by ConocoPhillps, Inc. having held senior leadership, operating and commercial roles in areas of natural gas and natural gas liquids, as well as petroleum refining, marketing and transportation – domestically and internationally.

As a community asset that belongs to and is led by community members, Memorial Hermann will continue to be well-served by Easter’s long history of community and industry service. In addition to serving on the Memorial Hermann Health System Board, he is currently a director of the Texas Tri-Cities chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has served on Junior Achievement, United Way and Chamber of Commerce boards. Easter also currently serves as a director on the boards of Concho Resources, Inc., Delta Air Lines, Inc. and Grupo AeroMexico S.B.A. de C.V.
