Match Day excitement abounds as medical students learn the locations of their residencies
Each year, nearly 40,000 fourth-year medical students compete for about 30,000 residency positions across the country. National Match Day, held annually on the third Friday in March, is the culmination of countless hours of studying and memorizing medical terms as well as attending lectures, working in laboratories and circulating through clinical rotations. On March 15, 2019, students from UTHealth’s McGovern Medical School, Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston found out where they will train for their residencies.
