Cardiologists, registered dietitians, primary care physicians, family physicians, pediatricians, internists, residents, medical students, respiratory therapists, nurses, exercise physiologists, and healthcare professionals with an interest in cardiovascular disease prevention are invited to attend the 29th annual Preventive Cardiology Forum at McGovern Medical School Saturday, Feb. 2.
Directed by Francisco Fuentes, MD, professor of internal medicine, Division of Cardiology, it will be held 7:30 a.m. – 1:10 p.m. in MSB 3.001 with the theme “Innovations in the Science and Practice of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention.”
Presenters include L. Maximilian Buja, MD, professor of pathology and laboratory medicine; Eric Boerwinkle, PhD, dean and David Low Chair in Public Health; Michael Davis, MD, MBA, clinical associate professor of medicine; Kevin Lin, MSIV student; Yong-Jian Geng, MD, PhD, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Biology and Atherosclerosis Research and professor of medicine; and Gurur Biliciler-Denktas, MD, associate professor of pediatrics and director of the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory.
Participating institutions include American Heart association, Memorial Health System of East Texas, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Baylor College of Medicine, UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing, UTHealth School of Public Health/Brownsville Regional Campus and Doctors Hospital and Renaissance Health System-Edinburg.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and Baylor College of Medicine. The UTHealth School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association – Approver, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides 5.0 contact hours of nursing continuing education (CNE).
