Young artists in The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital Art Program were recently recognized for the beautiful artwork they created for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s annual Hospital Art Contest.
The Hospital Art Contest is held at MD Anderson, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Shriners Hospitals for Children during the month of January. The 2015 juried event at MD Anderson occurred on Monday, January 12th and featured an art exhibit and refreshments for students, parents, siblings and caregivers, followed by the official judging.
Artwork created by MD Anderson patients and their siblings in classes with art teacher Lisa Sitz was judged by the School Art judges and received either a blue or red ribbon. From the blue ribbon patient artwork, a Best of Show and Gold Medal from each of the four levels (Primary, Elementary, Jr. High and High School) was selected. Artwork considered but not selected as a Best of Show or Gold Medal winners received Finalist ribbons.
The official Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Awards Ceremony was held on Saturday, March 7th at NRG Center. For the first time ever, the MD Anderson patients were invited to attend to receive much-deserved recognition for their artwork, along with their Best of Show trophies and gold medals.

A "silent heart attack" is caused by ischemia, a temporary blood shortage. Sometimes the shortage causes the pain of angina pectoris. But in other cases, there is no pain. These cases are called silent ischemia, or "silent heart attacks." https://t.co/UKu4mglkKJ
