Born in 1992 in Houston, TX, Tatum also grew up in the Bayou City – a city she grew to love and appreciate from an early age. She attended Stratford High School in the Memorial area, where she served on the Student Council as Treasurer for its Executive Board and also acted as Lieutenant for the Drill Team.
Venturing out from the confines of the Greater Houston area for college, Tatum matriculated at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. There, Tatum expanded her interests and pursuits, majoring in Business with an emphasis in Marketing while simultaneously attaining a Minor in Nutrition. While at TCU, Tatum additionally joined the Tri Delta sorority. As a sister in Tri Delt, Tatum acted as Vice President of Finance in her Junior year and also President in her Senior year. Tatum is a die-hard Horned Frog, and she tries to make it back to Fort Worth for TCU football games in the fall whenever possible.
Tatum’s desire to work in healthcare also blossomed during her time at TCU. She attained an internship with St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, working out of a more logistically-feasible office in Houston, TX for the internship; in addition, she made several trips to Memphis to learn from the hospital administrators and staff directly. As part of the internship, Tatum assisted with fundraising, sponsorship, promotion, networking, and other marketing duties.
Soon after graduation from Texas Christian, Tatum joined Texas Medical Center, where she applied for and secured a position with the Marketing team. She has been a part of the TMC Marketing team for over three years, moving up from a Marketing Associate to a Marketing Manager and now to her current role as the Director of Marketing.
“At TMC, I love how much confidence the leadership has in the Marketing team and its ability to grow and execute without tremendous oversight,” Tatum noted. She added, “We are led by such impressive executives; I don’t know many people my age who get to work so closely with such respected leaders in their fields. Also, the ability to collaborate with different entities within the TMC umbrella – Health Policy, Innovation, and member institutions – ensures that no two days are alike. Being able to market the largest medical center in the world is truly a special opportunity. We are changing the way people view healthcare on a daily basis.”
In her free time, Tatum enjoys spending time with family, including her fiancé Pearce. She has an identical twin sister, Shelby, who also works in Marketing within TMC. Her family lives in the Memorial area of Houston where Tatum grew up.
Tatum’s hobbies include taking her dogs – two Labradors, Ellie and Colt – on walks at Memorial Park. She enjoys getting out of the city when practical; typically, time outside of Houston is spent at her family’s lake house at Lake McQueeney, a reservoir on the Guadalupe River. Tatum is also an avid reader and stresses that she prefers real books to e-readers and literature of the digital variety.
An outgoing and philanthropic young professional, Tatum is passionate about giving back to the Houston community. To that end, she serves as President of Champions for Children — benefiting Texas Children’s; she also sits on the Periwinkle Young Friends board — also benefiting Texas Children’s. Lastly, she serves on the International Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
In conclusion, Tatum is eager to look ahead to the exhilarating projects that lie in store as she continues to grow in her role as Director of Marketing, emphasizing, “I am very excited to begin working in earnest on the new TMC3project in 2019 and beyond. It represents a massive undertaking that will shape the future of Houston, and I am thrilled to be a part of the team that will help bring the TMC3vision to life.”
