Ryan Holeywell leads communications efforts across the Texas Medical Center. In his role, he oversees the news team that produces TMC’s magazine Pulse, communicates with the news media and works closely with TMC’s social media and marketing teams.
Prior to joining the Texas Medical Center, he led communications at Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research from 2015 to 2017, helping the organization achieve national notoriety.
Holeywell spent more than a decade as an award-winning journalist in Texas and Washington, D.C., where he was employed by the Houston Chronicle and Governing magazine, among other outlets. His work has been published by the Washington Post and USA Today, and he has appeared on CNN, CNBC and NPR to discuss his reporting. Holeywell has addressed groups including the Bipartisan Policy Center, the National Association of Regional Councils, the National League of Cities and the Eno Center for Transportation to discuss policy issues and trends.
Holeywell, a Houston native, earned his bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Affairs with a focus in nonprofit management from the University of Missouri.
