Mr. J. Downey Bridgwater is the Treasurer and Life Director of the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Center (TMC). Previous serving as Vice Chairman on the Board, Mr.Bridgwater is President of Comerica Bank’s Houston Market. He has been a banker in the Houston area since 1977 and served as the Chairman, President and CEO of Sterling Bancshares, Inc. and Sterling Bank through July 2011 when Sterling was acquired by Comerica. Mr. Bridgwater graduated from the University of Houston.

A Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Mr. Bridgwater also serves on the Finance Council and the Development Board for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as well as the boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, University of Houston Board of Visitors, the Bauer College of Business Dean’s Executive Board at the University of Houston, and the Harris County Housing Finance Corporation. He has served on the boards of many other charitable and community organizations and has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Joseph Jaworski Leadership Award, the University of Houston Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Award, the Silver Beaver and Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

He and his wife have one son and are members of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
