TMC Biodesign founders are mentored through a three-stage development process that encompasses product and business life cycles. With full immersion in the clinical experience, founders gain the fundamentals necessary to transform ideas into products and products into businesses.
UNMET CLINICAL NEED
Team spends hundreds of hours conducting ethnographic research to elucidate unmet clinical needs.
Needs are then pressure-tested for commercial potential.
Tasked to solve the identified need, the Biodesign teams develop, test, and validate a technology intended to disrupt common practice and generate a commercial opportunity.
The mission of TMC Biodesign is to build companies. The teams are expected to build a sustainable company to become the path by which their solution is brought to market.
The TMC Biodesign program involves two tracks per year: medical devices and digital health. Each track is paired with highly tailored mentorship to support teams as they develop solutions.
TMC’s digital health track takes a novel approach to biodesign by focusing exclusively on creating digital health solutions for health care’s greatest unmet needs. Founders collaborate to design transformative mobile, web and cloud-based products, data analytics, remote monitoring, sensors and wearables, population health management, EMR solutions and telemedicine.
The medical device track applies proven biodesign principles to developing novel medical devices with the goal of revolutionizing medicine. The team will shadow experts in a variety of clinical focus areas to gather inspiration for inventing minimally-invasive devices or implants, point-of-care diagnostics, clinical or surgical tools, and other original medical device solutions to impact how care is delivered.
