Amy L. McGuire, J.D., Ph.D., is the Leon Jaworski Professor of Biomedical Ethics and director of the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine. Her research explores the legal and ethical issues in genomics and the issues related to its clinical integration. Her research is funded by the NIH-NHGRI, NCI and NICHD. She is a member of the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research at the National Institutes of Health, and is also an alumnus of the Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics. She received her B.A. from The University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center—both summa cum laude. She then received her Ph.D.—with distinction—from the Institute for Medical Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
