“No Aggregation without Representation”

The Light Collective Panel Discussion
Speakers: Andrea Downing, Valencia Robinson, Ashley Dedmon

There has never been a greater need or opportunity to advance patient communities’ rights, interests, and voices in health technology. The emergence and growth of digital health technology and social media platforms over the past decade have caused a radical shift in global healthcare. Patients increasingly turn to social media and other digital health technologies for information and support as they navigate their health challenges.

October is both breast cancer awareness month and cybersecurity awareness month. Listen to three dynamic patient community leaders at the forefront of technology advocacy, cybersecurity, and patient rights.

The Sawyer Seminar is sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Additional support comes from the Rice Building Research on Inequality and Diversity to Grow Equity (BRIDGE) Program, Rice Scientia Small Conference Fund, Baylor College of Medicine Office of Community Engagement and Health Equity, Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, and UT Health Houston McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics.
