Sixth Annual Kelsey Lecture Held at Institute of Biosciences and Technology The sixth annual Mavis P. Kelsey Lecture was held Nov. 16 at the Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology in the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Erkki Ruoslahti, president and CEO of the Burnham Institute in La Jolla, Calif. and expert in cancer biology research, presented the lecture, titled "Vascular "Addresses" Revealed by Phage Library Screening." Dr. Ruoslahti holds a number of honors and awards, including the Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute and the Jacobaeus International Prize. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Nobel Fellow of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden; and a member in the United States National Academy of Sciences. Begun in November 1996, the Mavis P. Kelsey Lecture Series honors Dr. Mavis P. Kelsey, a founder of the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston. Dr. Kelsey has served on development boards at Texas A&M, The University of Texas, and the Kelsey-Seybold Foundation, which he also founded. Dr. Kelsey is an alumnus of Texas A&M, class of 1932.
