M.D. Anderson Volunteers Making a Difference The following are current volunteer opportunities at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Help a Shop Assist at one of the four volunteer gift shops at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center by cashiering, stocking merchandise and visiting with customers. Proceeds from gift shop sales benefit volunteer and patient programs. Coffee Craft Cart Volunteers in this program visit with patients and families, making clinic waiting time more pleasant. With a partner, the volunteers make coffee, stock the cart with crafts, and travel through various clinic areas offering coffee, craft activities and friendship. Hospital Information Desk For the volunteer who likes to meet and work with the public, staffing the Hospital Information Desk may be ideal. These volunteers greet and direct visitors, answer phones, deliver floral bouquets and give outpatient information. Clinic Aides Be part of the health care team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Volunteers are needed to assist nursing staffs and interact with patients and families in outpatient centers. The outpatients are not hospitalized, but visit specific clinic centers for diagnosis, treatment or regular checkups. Volunteers ensure smooth operations in these areas by running errands, assisting patients and staff, directing patients to patient rooms, and anticipating any needs patients may have.
