Diagnostic Center Hospital Changes Name

Diagnostic Center Hospital recently announced that the hospital is changing its name to Methodist Diagnostic Hospital.

Known for high patient satisfaction and efficient care in a "home-like" environment, MDH physicians and staff have served the Houston community for more than 35 years. The new name reflects the hospital's seven-year affiliation with Methodist Health Care System.

"The hospital has a long-standing reputation in the community for high quality, personalized care," said Dr. Marc Boom, Methodist Diagnostic Chief Executive Officer. "Changing our name to reflect the Methodist affiliation builds on that."

Dr. Boom hopes that the name change will reinforce that MDH physicians treat critical and chronic conditions as well as diagnose illnesses. The full-service, 226-bed facility offers a wide range of services including acute care, inpatient and outpatient surgeries, an emergency room, skilled nursing and home health.

Specialty services include The Diagnostic Center for Joint Replacement, which offers a unique concept designed to assist hip and knee replacement patients return to a normal, active lifestyle as quickly as possible and a state-of-the-art Sleep Disorder Center for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related diseases and illnesses.

Dr. Boom said many physicians consider the hospital to be the best kept secret of the Texas Medical Center because of its responsive nursing staff and simple admitting procedures, and patients prefer the facility because of the personalized care and family environment.

Celebrities such as NASA astronauts and Houston Rocket Hakeem Olajuwon have been patients at MDH.
