Services offered at the new health center include primary care, women's care, specialty services, and health education seminars. Primary care physicians will see patients Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments are not required for Saturday or evening visits. Parking is free. A number of specialty physicians, including cardiologists, obstetrician/gynecologists, dermatologists, podiatrists, a psychiatrist, a neurologist, and an otolaryngologist will rotate at the center on certain days.

"Basically, we are bringing the expertise and quality care of St. Luke's physicians into the community to make it more convenient and accessible for patients who need medical attention, while offering access to St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center if needed," explains David Pate, M.D., senior vice president of St. Luke's Health Network. The specialists are independent contractors and are not employees or agents of St. Luke's.

"Patients will be able to see specialists close to home without having to come into the Texas Medical Center, and they can come at a time convenient for them," adds Dr. Pate. "We know patients don't always get sick from 9 to 5, and often people can't get off work. Extended hours may also encourage patients to seek earlier diagnoses or treatment, reducing health care problems and costs later on."

To make an appointment to see a physician at St. Luke's Health Center-San Felipe or for more information, call (713) 267-7100.
