Women's Health Fair 2001
Oct. 20 at The Museum of Health & Medical Science

Women of all ages are invited to learn more about their health and well-being at The Women's Health Fair 2001.

The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Museum of Health & Medical Science, 1515 Hermann Drive. There is no charge to attend the event, sponsored by the Houston Gynecological & Obstetrical Society.

A variety of medical testing and screenings will be provided including osteoporosis, cholesterol, cancer awareness, reproductive health, diet/nutrition, depression, bone density, hearing, vision, sexually transmitted disease risk and AIDS. A limited number of free mammogram vouchers will also be provided to women attending the event. The vouchers can be redeemed at Houston area hospitals and mammography centers.

HGOS President Dr. Ferdinand Plavidal, said the Women's Health Fair provides a unique opportunity for Houston-area women to receive expert onsite medical information at one convenient location.

"Women are extremely busy juggling careers, family and community obligations, sometimes at the expense of their own health," said Dr. Plavidal. "Women can meet with medical doctors, caregivers and other health professionals in a relaxed environment, getting the latest information about women's health issues. HGOS encourages women of all ages to be proactive about their health. This is one way to do so."
