"Lion King" Musical Benefits Two TMC Institutions Ticket sales for the opening and closing weekend showings of the Broadway production "The Lion King," coming to Houston's Jones Hall next year, will benefit two Texas Medical Center institutions.
Ronald McDonald House of Houston will host the Saturday opening weekend performance July 6, 2002. The Four Seasons Hotel will provide pre- and post-theater functions for top-level contributors. Proceeds will benefit families staying at Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families with children being treated in the Texas Medical Center for cancer and other serious illnesses. Ticket prices range from $100 to $500, with the $500 ticket level receiving an invitation to a pre-show dinner party and the $300 ticket level receiving an invitation to a post-show dessert party. To receive an order form, call the Ronald McDonald House at (713) 795-3563. Tickets to the performance benefiting Ronald McDonald House are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Baylor College of Medicine's Scott Department of Urology is offering 500 VIP tickets to the closing weekend performance of "The Lion King" on Aug. 24, 2002 at 8 p.m. Honorary chair is Linda Lyons Brown. Cost is $250 per ticket, and all funds raised will directly benefit pediatric urology research conducted at Baylor College of Medicine. To purchase tickets, call Laura Houser in Baylor's Office of Development, (713) 798-6981.
