Paws for a Cure: Riverway Bank Auctioning Bears for Komen Every week durning Sept. and Oct., Riverway Bank will auction two Susan Bears and donate the money raised from these auctions to the Komen Houston Race for the Cure® 2000. Proceeds will help fund breast cancer research and help educate women about breast cancer screening and research. "The Komen Houston Race for the Cure is a grand event, and we are pleased to be able to help raise money to fund important breast cancer research," said John E. Phillips, President and CEO of Riverway Bank. The Susan Bears are unique from other teddy bears because each will have a signature pink breast cancer awareness ribbon embroidered on the left foot, and will come with a pink awareness pin for its owner. The Susan Bears can also be previewed at the Komen Houston Race for the Cure on Oct. 7. Additionally, there will be 10 Susan Bears presented to breast cancer survivors on race day. Bidding on the bears will be easy. One bear a week will be auctioned in the Riverway Bank lobby. Anyone interested will have the choice of bidding online for the bears at http://www.riverwaybank.com, or by going to the Riverway Bank branch located at 5 Riverway. The bank's lobby is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The auctions began Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will end Oct. 27. n ©2006 Texas Medical Center E-Mail: tmcinfo@texmedctr.tmc.edu URL: http://www.tmc.edu/tmcnews/09_15_00/page_19.html |
