Texas Children’s International recently welcomed more than 1,500 physicians throughout Mexico and in McAllen, Texas, for the second Texas Children’s Hospital Mexican Pediatric Satellite Symposium.

The event was broadcast from the Texas Medical Center’s Edwin Hornberger Conference Center and was available in 12 different viewing locations.

“Texas Children’s Hospital looks at these events as a way of strengthening its relationships with international physicians for the improvement of pediatric healthcare throughout the world,” said Victor Manes, director of Texas Children’s international operations.

Topics focused on allergies, asthma, influenza, head injuries and early-onset neonatal infections.

Presenters included Dr. Gerardo Cabrera-Meza, director of the Texas Children’s Newborn Center and assistant professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine; Dr. Albert Hergenroeder, chief of adolescent and sports medicine at Texas Children’s and head of the adolescent and sports medicine section at Baylor; and Dr. William Shearer, chief of allergy and immunology at Texas Children’s and head of the allergy and immunology section at Baylor.

The symposium was presented by Texas Children’s International, Baylor College of Medicine and Schering-Plough Latin America.
