Remote Access to HAM-TMC Library Resumes Sept. 3 By DONALD BARCLAY HAM-TMC Library The HAM-TMC Library's remote-access service, which was destroyed in the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Allison, resumes on Monday, Sept. 3. At that time the service will be available to faculty, residents, fellows, students and staff of the TMC educational institutions.
The HAM-TMC Library's new remote access works with both Internet Explorer and Netscape and does not require users to configure their browsers. Those who wish to use the new remote-access service will need to register, including anyone who was registered for the pre-Allison remote-access service.
To register in advance or get more information, visit Remote Access Services Registration at http://www.library.tmc.edu/ras.html.
Who Can Use Remote Access:
Remote access is available only to faculty, residents, fellows, students and staff of the following TMC institutions:
Remote access for other HAM-TMC cardholders will follow. When the service is initiated, cardholders not affiliated with TMC educational institutions will not have remote access to all of the library's electronic resources. The reason for this limited access is due to publisher restrictions on site-licenses for electronic resources.
What You'll Need:
How to Register for Remote Access:
Register by filling out the online form. When you submit the form, your HAM-TMC Library card number will be validated and you will be added to the database of registered remote access users. This may take up to two business days.
Once you have registered, your username will be your e-mail address and your password will be the last four digits of your HAM-TMC Library card number. You will not be contacted by the HAM-TMC Library unless there is a problem with your registration.
If you have questions or problems, please contact the HAM-TMC Library at hiec@library.tmc.edu. ©2006 Texas Medical Center E-Mail: tmcinfo@texmedctr.tmc.edu URL: http://www.tmc.edu/tmcnews/09_01_01/page_20.html |
