Arnett Named Interim Chair, UT-Houston Internal Medicine
Dr. Frank C. Arnett has been named interim chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School, a position he will assume Oct. 16. Dr. Arnett succeeds Internal Medicine Chairman Dr. James Willerson, who has been named interim president of the UT-Houston Health Science Center. Holding the Elizabeth Bidgood Chair in Rheumatology, Arnett is a Professor of Internal Medicine, and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He also serves as Director of the Division of Rheumatology - a position he will continue to hold. "Dr. Arnett is held in the highest regard by our faculty, students, residents and patients. As an active administrator, clinician, researcher and teacher, he brings a deep and broad range of experience to the position," said Dr. L. Maximilian Buja, Dean of the UT-Houston Medical School. "I am confident that he will continue to advance the programs of the Department of Internal Medicine." Dr. Arnett received his medical degree in 1968 from the University of Cincinnati and completed his Residency in Medicine and Fellowship in Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1968-1972. From 1972-1974, he was Chief of Rheumatology at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio. He served as Assistant and then Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1974-1984. Since 1984, he has directed the Rheumatology program at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School.
