Project Parking Update On August 11, Project Parking went "live" at the AU surface lot, at the corner of Main and Galen. This mixed contract/visitor lot is the first of Texas Medical Center's lots and garages to utilize the new parking system. The system will be thoroughly tested at the AU lot through the month of August. "We are enthusiastic about moving forward with this parking system conversion," says Joyce Camp, vice president, Texas Medical Center. Project Parking consists of two distinct parts. For the contract parker, a new proximity card will be used for entering and exiting the assigned lot or garage. These cards have been distributed to Texas Medical Center employees. Ample notice will be given before each parking lot or garage is converted to the new system. Employees who need a new proximity card should contact the Texas Medical Center Contract Parking Office at 713-791-6161 for hours and location. The second innovative part of Project Parking is for visitors to the Texas Medical Center. New ticket dispensers are being installed at the lots and garages, and new EasyPay machines will be installed at convenient locations. These EasyPay machines - resembling ATMs - will allow visitors to pay for their parking (with cash or credit card) before returning to their automobiles. With no lines at pay booths, exiting the lots and garages will be easier and faster. Project Parking is the parking of the future, here and now. Questions about Project Parking?
