New Specialty Rehabilitation Programs at TIRR

The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research has created new TIRR Specialty Rehabilitation Programs to complement services already offered at TIRR. The new specialty programs combine many of the programs and services already offered at TIRR and at TIRR LifeBridge, which provides intensive rehabilitation services to patients who often have more than one illness or injury, under single program leadership. Dr. Teresa Kaldis, formerly medical director of TIRR LifeBridge, will serve as program director of TIRR Specialty Rehabilitation Programs.

Patients in the TIRR Specialty Rehabilitation Programs are similar to the patients formerly seen at TIRR LifeBridge. They include patients who are medically complex, those needing wound care, and patients with amputations, multiple trauma, burns, and complex orthopedic problems. Patients with neuromuscular issues such as multiple sclerosis, dystonia, post polio, and adult spina bifida will also be seen in the program.

Hospital-based and community physicians will continue to accept and admit patients to the new programs.
