On the Move ...Temporarily by BETTY ADAMS, Ph.D. Prairie View A&M College of Nursing Due to planned demolition and reconstruction of Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing at 6436 Fannin St., the college has secured a lease of 42,660 square feet at 1801 Main St. to operate all undergraduate and graduate nursing program offerings. The move will take place this month, and the Main Street address will be effective through the fall semester of 2005. This newly leased space will contain total physical facilities to ensure full operation of the college, including modern classrooms, laboratories, faculty/staff offices, and student support services. Also, students will have access to secured parking and other amenities offered in the lease. Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing will remain a strong member and supporting partner in the Texas Medical Center during this temporary move. During the next several years, students and faculty will continue collaborating with other institutions for instruction and learning and in all related services. For the last 20 years, the college has resided at the Fannin St. address, but has unfortunately outgrown the present building. Construction of the new facility is at the planning stage and involves a collaborative agreement with Memorial Hermann. ©1996-2002 Texas Medical Center
