The Ultimate Baby Book
WebNursery Puts Newborns Online

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then grandparents and other relatives of newborns at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital must be thrilled. For the first time ever, St. Luke's and Growing Families are now posting newborn babies' photos online. The service, called WebNursery, will allow relatives and friends to see the new bundle of joy, even if they are far away.

"In these times when families are spread throughout the country and the world, our WebNursery service enables new parents to share their good news and a photograph of their newborn with families and friends," said Pam Lemp, volunteer services director.

"I can't wait to see my little new one on the Internet. We've got family in Beaumont, Louisiana and Dallas who will love to see the baby," said new mom Lisa Walker-McCoy, who lives in southwest Houston. "This makes it so much easier for them to see her. I can also pull up the Web site and make my baby's picture into a screen saver. I'm so happy that St. Luke's has WebNursery."

"Our new parents have been asking us to do this, and we're very excited to provide this service," said Shervin Nia, St. Luke's Web Center director. "Maybe some day this kind of thing will take the place of baby books."

Visitors to a newborn baby's Web page can post comments and congratulations and even click on the baby's image to view a larger, more printer-friendly version of the photo. The WebNursery can be accessed at http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery.
