  • Brain, Biology & Behavior, sponsored by Associated Catholic Charities, on Friday, July 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at United Way Service Center of the Bay Area, 1300A Bay Area Blvd. Cost is $30 and includes CEUs. To register, call 713-526-4611.

  • Red Cross-certified CPR classes, sponsored by St. Luke's Wellness Services, on Saturday, July 22, at 6900 Fannin. The adult CPR class begins at 10 a.m., and the child/infant CPR class will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Cost is $35 per class or $50 for both sessions.   • Polio survivors meeting, sponsored by the Texas Polio Survivors' Association, on Sunday, July 30, from 2:15 to 5:00 p.m. at the Braeburn Presbyterian Church, 9595 Braes Bayou Dr. The topics is "My Strategies for Living a Quality Life with Post Polio Syndrome."   • Texas Nurses Association District 9 is accepting nominations for the 20 top nurses in the district. Awards will be given at a gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Houston on November 16. To nominate an individual, you must submit a short essay addressing the nomination criteria. Nomination criteria are available from the TNA District 9 office at 713-523-3619. The deadline for nominations is August 15.

  • Envision the Invisible is at the Museum of Health & Medical Science through September 4. This summer exhibit features: Brain Matters, Signals and microscapes: the hidden art of high technology. These highly interactive exhibits are all about communication technologies and the signal processes that are invisible to the human eye. Take advantage of the Museum's Free Family Thursdays when admission is free from 4-7 p.m. For more information about the Museum, call 713-521-1515.

  • "Living Well," a series of lectures sponsored by The University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center's Mini Medical School will offer discussions of up-to-the-minute treatments, research and theory about women's health. The lectures are each Tuesday evening in Sept., from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Museum of Health & Medical Science. Sept. 5: Hormone Replacement Therapy Update; Hysterectomy: Facts and Fallacies. Sept. 12: Fitness: Keeping in Shape; Rheumatic Disorders: Aches, Pains and Joint Diseases. For information about the series, call 713-500-6394.
