  • At the Museum of Health & Medical Science in July: Through August 29: "Razzle, Dazzle, Sparkle and Shine: An Exhibit of light, Color and Vision." Visitors of all ages can experience the kaleidoscopic spectacle of light, color and scientific discovery and learn more about their amazing eyes. Nineteen interactive displays and related activities and crafts for the entire family. Programs also available in Spanish.
    Join weird scientists Ernie and Maria for the "Lighter Side of Art," July 8, 4-7 p.m. (free); July 10, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and July 11, noon-5 p.m.

  • A day-long refresher course required annually by the state for certified medication aides is scheduled for July 10 at the Houston Community College-Southeast Palm Center instructional site, 5400 Griggs Road. Tuition for the class, scheduled from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., is $39. For more information, call 713-640-0459.

  • "America Walks for Strong Women," a three-mile walk to raise awareness of osteoporosis, sponsored by the National Osteoporosis Foundation, Sept. 25, beginning at 8 a.m. Company teams are welcome. For information, call 713-785-8816.

  • The Third Annual BMW Ultimate Drive for the Cure, Aug. 19-21, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation. Participating dealerships - who contribute $1 per mile for each test drive - are Momentum BMW (Aug. 19), Advantage BMW (Aug. 29) and Charlie Thomas's Intercontinental BMW (Aug. 21). Free and open to the public.

  • Advances in Tissue Engineering, sponsored by Rice University, August 22-26, on the campus. Discussions on cardiovascular surgery, drug delivery and targeting, organ and cell transplantation, artificial organs, reconstructive surgery, applied immunology, gene therapy, cell and tissue culture and more.   • The City of Houston will host five Senior Informational Forums in September and October. The purpose of these forums will be to inform senior citizens of the services provided by the city's Area Agency on Aging. The dates and locations of those forums are: Sept. 14, Clear Lake Recreation Center; Sept. 21, Alief Park; Sept. 28, Jewish Community Center; Oct. 5, Tidwell Park, Oct. 12, Sharpstown Community Center.
