St. Luke's Texas Cancer Institute Opens New Facility By PAUL HARASIM St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital St. Luke's Texas Cancer Institute recently opened a new facility on the second floor of St. Luke's Medical Tower at 6624 Fannin Street. At the new Texas Cancer Institute clinic, patients are able to promptly and conveniently receive diagnosis, care and treatment from nurses with specialized oncology training and from physician-specialists with a wealth of experience in treating all forms of cancer. "Our vision for St. Luke's Texas Cancer Institute is to provide a warm environment for patients, coupled with high-quality providers and state-of-the-art diagnostic services," said Dr. Brian Miles, medical director. "Here, we will be minimizing patients' travel time and delays by providing same-day radiology and pathology results and cooperative interaction between oncologists and surgeons." The facility includes patient examining rooms and consultation rooms with X-ray viewing screens, an infusion area for outpatient chemotherapy, and reception and administrative offices. An oncology clinic manager assures that patients receive the coordinated care that meets their needs. "Our institute pulls together the expertise of many of Houston's finest radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, surgeons, and other specialty physicians," Dr. Miles said. "These private-practice physicians come together here for initial patient visits. We're able to efficiently arrange a patient's initial exam and any needed testing, very prompt diagnoses and any follow-up consults so the patient is not inconvenienced or kept waiting long for results." ©2006 Texas Medical Center E-Mail: tmcinfo@texmedctr.tmc.edu URL: http://www.tmc.edu/tmcnews/May_15_01/page_04.html |
