Orthopedic Symposium April 25 & 26

St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital will host its 39th annual Orthopedic Symposium April 25 and 26 at the Houstonian Hotel. The theme of this year’s symposium will be “Elbow, Forearm & Wrist: Recent Advances.”

Although designed for the orthopedic and upper extremity surgeon, the symposium will have topics of interest for all specialists that serve patients with problems of the elbow, forearm and wrist. It is geared for practitioners who actively treat those areas and who are interested in updating their management programs. Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to discuss the intricacies of elbow anatomy and function, evaluate elbow instability and strategize its repair, describe current radial head fracture treatment, differentiate between SNAC and SLAC wrists, assess the complicated forearm fracture and demonstrate current distal radius fracture management.

Symposium faculty include Jesse B. Jupiter, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital; Shawn O’Driscoll, M.D., Mayo Medical School; Peter J. Stern, M.D., University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; Steven F. Viegas, M.D., The University of Texas Medical Branch; and Andrew J. Weiland, M.D., Cornell University Medical College. Chairmen for the symposium are Fred B. Kessler, M.D., Todd E. Siff, M.D., and W. Malcolm Granberry, M.D., all of St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.

St. Luke’s designates this continuing medical education activity for 11 hours in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician Recognition Award. The cost for the symposium is $475 for physicians and $250 for residents and fellows. The cost for non-physicians is $175 per day – the conference’s only per-day rate.
