Birdies for Charity

The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science is teaming with the Houston Golf Association, in partnership with the Shell Houston Open, to participate in the 2003 Birdies for Charity fund-raising program.

All proceeds – 100 percent of donations – from the museum’s participation will benefit HealthAdventure – the museum’s outreach program for classrooms of pre-kindergarten through second-grade children, which teaches basic anatomy, hygiene, fitness, nutrition, and the effects of environmental influences.

To participate in this year’s Birdies for Charity, donors may:

  • pledge one penny or more for every “birdie” (a score of one under par) shot at this year’s Shell Houston Open, April 21 through 27 at the Redstone Golf Club; or
  • make a one-time contribution ($20 minimum); or
  • become a member of the “Birdies Club” by pledging $1 or more for every birdie shot during tournament play. Club members will receive two Season Gallery Ticket Packages, one Sponsor Parking Pass, and an official Birdies for Charity cap.

In addition, donors may enter the “Guess the Birdies” contest for an opportunity to win prizes such as a 2003 Buick Rendezvous, a Continental Airlines travel package, golf equipment, and much more.

Pledges are due no later than April 11, and all are 100 percent tax deductible. Make checks payable to the Houston Golf Association.

For more information, contact Dana Ezer, the museum’s assistant director of development, at (713) 942-7054, ext 257 or dezer@mhms.org.
