A Relay, and Then Some
Two-Day Event Benefits Cancer Programs

The American Cancer Society is recruiting volunteers to help with its annual Relay for Life event, which features eight separate relays throughout the Houston area. The two-day, overnight event has been compared to a cross between a county fair and a slumber party. Participating teams raise money for the American Cancer Society through pledges and donations as well as special fundraisers including car washes, garage sales, golf tournaments and bake sales. On the night of the relay, teams camp out near a track, keeping one member walking or running on the track throughout the entire event. Entertainment and games continue throughout the night as well.

Dates and locations are:

  • March 28-29, San Jacinto College Central Campus Stadium
  • April 4-5, Katy VFW Park
  • April 12-13, The Woodlands High School
  • April 25-26, Strake Jesuit High School
  • May 2-3, Terry High School, Fort Bend County
  • May 2-3, Humble Civic Center
  • May 9-10, Tomball High School
  • May 23-24, Galena Park (location to be announced)
