Taking charge of your health has never been easier, thanks to a free, convenient and secure online service called MyWellness that’s available on the Memorial Hermann Web site, http://www.memorialhermann.org.

MyWellness enables individuals to track and store their family’s health conditions, medications, allergies, test results, surgeries and immunization records. Users can access this information any time of day or night at home, at work or while traveling.

"With MyWellness, users can create their own home page to track and improve their health and well-being in a confidential and secure manner and have access to timely, accurate and relevant information," says Beth Sartori of Memorial Hermann’s marketing and communications department.

Users can also take advantage of educational health information that covers a host of medical topics. MyWellness offers tools to help users learn about personal health risks based on genetics and lifestyle habits. Among the tools offered through MyWellness are:

  • HealthQuotient – Assesses overall health status, identifies risks and delivers personalized information and recommendations relevant to the user’s specific needs
  • Condition Centers – Provides in-depth, condition- specific health assessments and delivers personalized treatment options
  • Health Record – Creates and securely stores personal health records
  • Child Record – Comprehensive services designed to help parents track and improve their child’s health
  • Improvement Programs – Interactive, self-paced improvement programs to help achieve positive, healthy change through prenatal care, smoking cessation and nutrition information
  • Trackers – Tracks key health indicators, including vital signs, test results and diet and exercise

Studies show that more than 100 million Americans are wired to the Web with three-quarters of them clicking their way through cyberspace in search of health information. The American Medical Association reports that 70 percent of those who use the Internet say the health information they find influences treatment decisions.
