South Main Corridor Highlights the H.E.A.R.T. Of Houston
Focuses on Health, Education, Art, Recreation, and Technology

The South Main Center Association recently launched a campaign celebrating and advancing health, education, art, recreation and technology – the H.E.A.R.T. of Houston. The association, in its 27th year, launched the campaign to distinguish and highlight the diverse elements of Houston’s South Main corridor.

"We thought the H.E.A.R.T. acronym effectively captured the essence of the South Main Center Association and all the treasures in its area," said Michael Jhin, member of the association’s H.E.A.R.T. of Houston Council of Advisors, and president and CEO of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Care System.

Fittingly, the campaign was kicked off at the new Denton A. Cooley Building, home of the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital – one of the many "jewels" in the "crown" of the Texas Medical Center, located in the heart of the South Main corridor.

"We are committed to recognizing the contributions of the not-for-profit entities that reside within the area served by the South Main Center," said E. Ashley Smith, South Main Center Association chairman and TIRR Systems president and CEO.

The association is uniting the many diverse organizations that exemplify the heart of Houston, creating Houston character, Smith said.

"We share the South Main corridor with some really wonderful neighbors," said Dr. Richard E. Wainerdi, member of the South Main Center Association H.E.A.R.T. of Houston Council of Advisors, and president and CEO of the Texas Medical Center. "This is a spectacular place to be. To the South Main Center Association, we thank you for what you’re doing for all of the people who live and work here, making this a special part, not only of Houston, but of America."

"Working together, we will increase Houstonians’ appreciation of the H.E.A.R.T. of Houston and bring these resources to greater national and international prominence," said Susan Young, South Main Center Association president.
