- The 3rd Annual Clinical Research Day at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center will take place March 17.
- The 8th Annual Genitourinary Oncology Conference, sponsored by M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, will be held at the JW Marriott March 23-24.

- "Taking MS Treatment Out of the Box," a free seminar for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 at the Radisson Hotel Astrodome Convention Center (8686 Kirby Dr. and 610 South). Organized by Baylor College of Medicine neurologist and MS specialist Dr. Annette Howard, the seminar will feature presentations by physicians about current treatments for MS. - K.I.N.D.E.Rx. Awards, an annual event to recognize individuals in the community who have contributed to the well-being of children at risk, will take place on Thurs., March 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Houston Medical Center. All proceeds go to benefit the K.I.N.D.E.Rx. Clinic (Kids in Need of Drug Evaluation and Rx-Treatment). Ticket prices are $50 per person; corporate sponsorships are also available. - The University of Houston Libraries' Special Collections and Archives department presents "Reflections of Yesterday, Visions of Tomorrow," an exhibition exploring the history of the University of Houston Libraries from its beginnings in 1927 to the present and beyond. The exhibition runs through May 30, 2000. This exhibition uses photos, reports and other artifacts to explore the full history of the UH Libraries and their significance to generations of UH students, faculty and the Houston community. - "Home Care for the Older Adult," a hands-on, half-day workshop sponsored by The University of Texas-Houston Center on Aging and the division of gerontology of the UT-Houston School of Nursing, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wed., April 5, at the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Blanton House, at 3471 Westheimer. Demonstrations and information on home care support services, medical services and community resources for family caregivers, care attendants, nursing assistants, sitters and others. - The Shoulder in the New Millennium, sponsored by St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, is a course designed for the orthopedic surgeon involved in the treatment of shoulder disorders. - u The American Cancer Society's 24-hour Relay for Life will be held April 14-15 at Rice University West Stadium Lot. A special lap will be held for cancer survivors. - Planned Parenthood continues to offer free mammograms to women over the age of 50 who have an income of less than $15,780 per year. The goal of this program, funded by a grant from the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP), is to help women get necessary screening for early detection of breast cancer. Mammogram dates are Mon., March 22; Wed., April 12; Wed., May 10; and Wed., June 21 at Planned Parenthood, 3601 Fannin. Call 713-522-3976 for an appointment.
- Pandit Jasraj Meditative Ensemble performs in Houston, Sat., March 18, at 7 p.m., at the Moores Opera House on the University of Houston campus. - The American Organ Transplant Association will host its first Gift of Life event to honor a leading authority in the transplant field and to provide special recognition of donors, their families, transplant recipients and those awaiting a transplant. Dr. Barry Kahan, professor of surgery and director of the division of immunology and organ transplantation at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School is this year's honoree.
