“Spoon Full of Sugar” Benefits John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science

The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science will hold its first major fund-raiser, the “Spoonful of Sugar” Celebration, Saturday, March 29. Chaired by Sue Trammell Whitfield and Patricia Peckinpaugh Hubbard, this evening of dinner and dancing will honor the museum’s namesake and benefactor, John P. McGovern. The event will be followed by a children’s party Sunday afternoon, March 30, from 2:30 to 5 p.m., chaired by Sue Henderson McMurrey and Laura McMurrey Sheffield. Richard Sherman, Walt Disney lyricist and composer of many of the iconic tunes of our culture such as “It’s a Small World” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” will perform his most famous compositions for the two special events.

Funds raised through the celebration will directly benefit the museum’s educational programs, which include interactive exhibits, video and live theater productions, hands-on science classes and demonstrations, traveling exhibitions, summer camps, and much more. In addition, the events will help raise community awareness about the museum, which encourages visitors to gain a better understanding of the human body and a lifelong commitment to health and wellness.

For more benefit information, call Nancy Davis, director of development, at (713) 942-7054,
