Library Has New Journal Evaluation Database The Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library now has a subscription to the Institute for Scientific Information’s "Journal Citation Reports." Journal Citation Reports is a unique tool for journal evaluation, using citation data drawn from more than 8,400 journals and more than 3,000 publishers worldwide. It can be used to access the impact of journals in the areas of science, technology, and social sciences. This new database is the online equivalent to "Journal Impact Factors." The science edition of JCR contains about 5,000 journals in the areas of science and technology; the social sciences edition includes about 1, 500 journals in that discipline. To access JCR, go to http://library.tmc.edu/dbaccesslevels.html. Journal Citation Reports is only available under TMC educational access and TMC institutional access. For questions regarding JCR, call the reference desk at (713) 799-7161 or e-mail webmgr@library.tmc.edu. NOTE – For those having trouble accessing Journal Citation Reports, the library’s subscription has a limit of three simultaneous users. – Beatriz Varman ©2006 Texas Medical Center E-Mail: tmcinfo@texmedctr.tmc.edu URL: http://www.tmc.edu/tmcnews/03_01_02/page_12.html |
